Welcome to the 2025 Sail Freight Season!
Inspired by CSAs but with a sail freight twist, each of Schooner Apollonia club box contains seasonal and sometimes even exclusive ciders delivered to ports by wind-powered sailboat and solar-powered cargo bike. We are all about reducing fossil fuel use and carbon emissions! This club program is in conjunction with, and parallel too, Schooner Apollonia’s BoatBox subscription. Add it on to your BoatBox order, or choose to go exclusively cider.
This year we’re doing an a la cart model to give you as much flexibility to get the cider and wine of your choice. Sign up now for a single box on the the June 2025 run, and stay tuned for news about future deliveries!
Each box will curated selection of three bottles from Greenpoint Cidery, including classic favorites, limited seasonal releases, and experimental ciders, sometimes in an exclusive for club participants, plus a zine talking about the ciders, and a botanical clipping from the farm. Boxes will cost approximately $65-70, which includes tax and a small fee to support Schooner Apollonia. Each box subscriber get a 10% discount on the normal website price, plus a 10% discount code to use on other orders throughout the year. Although you sign up now, you won’t be charged until the week your order is packed onto the boat. Don’t worry: I’ll email you in the weeks leading up to shipment to remind you of your order and even allow you to customize your box with additional bottles you want to try.
This year’s ports include: Hudson, Kingston, Poughkeepsie, Newburgh, Beacon, Ossining, Piermont, Dobbs Ferry, Red Hook Brookly, Brooklyn Bridge Park, and the Southstreet Seaport Museum in Manhattan. Choose your closest port, and come to the docks and meet the sailors, or pick up within one week at our partner depots in your port.
The CSA-style club model allows me to delve deeper into exploring and foraging for local fruits, herbs and flowers to add to my ciders and wines, and guarantees you access to some of these extremely limited releases, while also allowing you to support carbon-neutral shipping along the Hudson River.
